A musical adaptation of the short story by Ursula Wills-Jones in which an ‘Ugly Girl' has resigned herself to a life alone, without friends or a partner, until the strange old Basket Maker creates a wonderful husband for her.

What follows is a haunting, witty tale of hope, cruelty and vengeance. Told through folk-inspired song and beautifully theatrical story-telling, the heart of the show is a question: ‘What is true ugliness?'

The Wicker Husband was the winner of the inaugural Musical Theatre International Stiles & Drewe Mentorship Award, which helped the show to develop toward a professional

West End industry showcase early in 2017. It was also a finalist in the Kevin Spacey Artist of Choice Award 2016 and also in the Stiles & Drewe Best New Song Award 2016.

The show opened in March 2020 at the Watermill Theatre.
